KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State volleyball team will look to get back on the winning side of the net this Tuesday as the Owls host East Tennessee State in a 7 p.m. Atlantic Sun Conference show down.
Fans can enjoy another Trivia Tuesday with a team trivia contest throughout the match as well as postgame in addition to free pizza after the match courtesy of Uncle Maddio’s.
The Owls now sit in fifth place in the conference standings at 4-5, 15-9 overall, and will set their sights to toppling the third place Buccaneers who come in at 6-3 in the league and 15-8 overall.
Tuesday’s match will feature two of the A-Sun’s top offenses with KSU ranking third in hitting percentage at .214 and ETSU at second with a .221 average.
The Buccaneers bring in Megan Devine, who currently leads the conference in kills with 341 and a 3.97 kills per set average. ETSU also leads the way in team blocks with 231.5 and boasts the league’s top two individual blockers in Meredith Hardy and Wiley Khadijah who have combined for nearly 200 of those.
KSU continues to rally around senior
Baylee Strachan (Sioux City, Iowa/Winthrop), who currently ranks second in the A-Sun in attack percentage at .341 and .376 in conference matches only. Sophomore
Keyaira Stevenson (Columbia, S.C./Ridgeview HS) is beginning to heat up as well, totaling 62 kills with a .331 attack percentage in the team’s last five matches alone to help lead the KSU offense.
Setter
Sara Metroka (New Castle, Ind./New Castle Chrysler HS) is now closing in on her 3,000
th career assists for the black and gold, holding steady at 2,921 after putting up 890 so far this season. Metroka remains in the top 50 nationally in assists per set with a 10.72 average.
Freshman
Cierra Royster (Mableton, Ga./Cumberland Christian HS) earned her 60
th block during the Saturday loss to Mercer, putting the KSU rookie at No. 10 all time in career blocks at Kennesaw State.
After Tuesday’s match, the Owls will head to Deland, Fla. on Friday to take on Stetson prior to a Saturday meeting with Florida Gulf Coast.
