KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women’s soccer team is coming off one of its most impressive wins of the season as it looks to extend its winning streak to three games when it hosts West Florida on Sunday, September 18 at 1 p.m.

The Owls (4-3) put it all together last Sunday as they got contributions from all over the lineup en route to a 4-1 win over a very talented UAB squad.

Redshirt-freshman Katrina Frost continues to lead the way for the Owls attack as she scored the fourth goal of the match for the Black and Gold. The Fayetteville, Ga. native currently leads all Atlantic Sun Conference players in goals with seven and points with 14. Frost is also tied for 12th in the nation with 1.000 goals per game.

Senior Brittany Vining also played an excellent game for KSU in the win as she took a game-high four shots and scored her second goal of the season. Vining is now just three points away from tying current assistant coach Rebecca Nolin for tenth place on the all-time Kennesaw State points list with 43 points.

Personal, or career firsts was also the story in the 4-1 win over UAB as a trio of players had some impressive accomplishments. Freshman Nicole Calder scored her first career goal, and also tallied an assist, en route to earning her the A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week. Junior Liz Blackburn scored her first goal of the season on a beautifully placed header in the 42nd minute. Lastly, junior Sofia Blanco recorded two assists in the win which were the first points registered by Blanco in her collegiate career.

Kennesaw State looks to keep the momentum going as it closes out non-conference play against a solid Division II program in West Florida.

This is the first ever meeting between Kennesaw State and West Florida, but KSU has a record of 5-0 against all non-Division I opponents since joining Division I in 2005.

“We've had a good week of practice after the UAB win and the team is ready to play again,” head coach Rob King said. “West Florida has consistently been a national contender at the NCAA II level and will provide a stiff challenge for our squad. I like the way our squad is coming together and we're looking for another strong performance ahead of next week's conference play.”

West Florida (2-2-1) started the season ranked in the Division II Top-25. The Argonauts are coming off a 5-1 win over Spring Hill on Wednesday night. West Florida was picked as the preseason favorite to win the Gulf South Conference as it is led by senior forward Tina Murray. Murray has scored two hat tricks already this season and leads the team with 14 points.

Fans are encouraged to bring their children to the match as Sunday is Sundae Funday. There will be a post-match ice cream social after the match.
