ATHENS, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women’s golf team concluded the 39th Annual Liz Murphey Invitational in 21st place. The Owls posted a team best ball score of (293-313-298/906, +42) on the University of Georgia Course.

No. 2 ranked Alabama won the team championship with an eight-stroke win over No.4 Duke and No.5 Purdue, whom both finished tied for second.  A group of SEC rivals finished just beyond the Boilermakers as Arkansas (4th), Florida (5th), Auburn (T6th) and Georgia (T6th) finished consecutively.

Marta Silva Zamora of tournament host Georgia captured the individual medalist after shooting a Sunday final round of (67/212, -4) to finish two-strokes ahead of Arkansas’ Emily Tubert (214, -2). Laetitia Beck of Duke and Stephanie Meadow of Alabama each tied for third after posting (217, +1).

The Black and Gold were led by sophomore Ket Preamchuen, who posted a final round of (69/227, +11) to finish T-35th.  Preamchuen tallied five birdies on the afternoon to climb the leader board from 78th position.

Freshmen Hayley Clinning turned in a 54-hole score of (233. +17) while Lindsay Adams carded a (241, +25).  Senior Abby Fitzgerald finished shooting a (246, +30), and sophomore Molly Winnett rounded out the scoring for the Owls posting a (251, +35).

The Owls return to action Apr. 11-13 for the Atlantic Sun Championship in Deland, Fla. The Black and Gold will look to build off their second place finish at the Victoria Hills Golf Course in 2010.
