Box Score

KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men’s tennis team dropped a hard-fought Atlantic Sun Conference match on Friday afternoon to East Tennessee State, 7-0, at the Laurel Park Tennis Center.

The loss drops the Owls to 9-11 (3-6 A-Sun) on the season, and one and a half games back of the final playoff spot in the A-Sun Championship, while the win improves the Buccaneers to 14-6 (8-1 A-Sun) for the year.

In doubles action, all three of the doubles matches were close until the end, but the Bucs edged the Black and Gold in all three matches by scores of 8-6.

Kennesaw State also put up a strong fight in singles as junior Simon Janik and sophomore Elliot Kahler both won their first sets in their matches, but ETSU proved to be too much for the Owls as they eventually got swept in all six singles matches.

If Mercer loses to ETSU on Saturday then Kennesaw State will sit one game behind the Bears with one match remaining in the season. Ironically, the Owls last match of the 2011 regular season is at Mercer on April 9, and if the Black and Gold can beat the Bears they will advance to the A-Sun Championship for the first time in program history.
