Kennesaw State Hosts ETSU on Friday

Owls are 0-1 all-time against Buccaneers

3/31/2011 1:07:42 PM

KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men’s tennis team will conclude its 2011 home schedule on Friday morning when it hosts four-time defending Atlantic Sun Conference Champions, East Tennessee State.

The Owls are currently in seventh place in the A-Sun standings as they sit one game back of Mercer for the final spot in the conference tournament with only two matches remaining.

Last weekend was a missed opportunity for the Black and Gold to make up ground in the playoff hunt as they lost to Campbell, 7-0, on Friday and fell to USC Upstate on Sunday, 4-1.

For Kennesaw State to have a chance of upsetting the Buccaneers it will have to continue its solid play in doubles. The Owls have won nearly two-thirds of all their doubles matches this season, and leading the way for the Black and Gold has been the team of junior Simon Janik and sophomore Elliot Kahler. They have an overall record of 11-5 this season, and they are 5-3 in A-Sun matches.

The Black and Gold have only played East Tennessee State once in history of the program back on March 5, 2010 as they lost 7-0.

The match will be played at the Laurel Park Tennis Center and it is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
