KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women’s tennis team won its third match in a row on Sunday afternoon as it defeated USC Upstate, 4-1, at the Fair Oaks Tennis Center.
The win improves the Owls to 17-4 (6-2 A-Sun) on the season, while the loss drops USC Upstate to 0-15 (0-7 A-Sun) for the year.
Sunday’s win puts the Black and Gold in a tie for third place in the Atlantic Sun Conference with Stetson with only two conference matches remaining in the regular season. The victory also set a new school record for most overall wins in a season since the program was started back in 1992. The 1993 and 1994 teams, who played in the NAIA, also had 16 overall wins.

Therese Lagerkvist made quick work of their opponents winning 8-1, while the duo of junior
Morgan Carney and freshman
Alexandra Apostu followed suit with a 8-3 win of their own at the No. 2 spot.
In singles action, junior
Vera Shkundina improved to 6-2 in the A-Sun with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 1 spot.
Palider rolled in her match as well at the No. 4 position 6-3, 6-2 as she has now won eight of her last ten singles matches.
Kennesaw State will be off until Friday, April 1 when it will host East Tennessee State on Senior Day.
