KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women’s tennis team pushed their winning streak to four matches on Friday afternoon as it defeated Florida Gulf Coast, 5-2, at Laurel Park Tennis Center.
The win improves Kennesaw State to 13-2 (3-0 A-Sun) on the season, while the loss drops Florida Gulf Coast to 4-5 (1-3 A-Sun) for the year.
The Owls captured the doubles point to begin the match as they picked up a couple of gritty, comeback wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles spots to seal the doubles point.

Alexandra Apostu and junior
Morgan Carney cruised in their match winning 8-0. The No. 1 doubles team of junior
Vera Shkundina and sophomore
Iesha Holton fought back from a 5-2 deficit to post a 8-6 victory. Lastly, the duo of senior
Agatha Palider and sophomore
Therese Lagerkvist won their match at the No. 2 doubles position by a score of 8-6.
In singles play, the Owls won four of the six matches to give them the match.
The two notable singles wins came from Palider and Lagerkvist. Palider won her match at the No. 4 spot 6-2, 6-2 for her 50th singles win of her career. Lagerkvist grinded out a 6-0, 7-5 victory at the No. 5 spot to extend her A-Sun singles winning streak to nine matches, and her victory also gave the Black and Gold its fourth point of the match to clinch it.
Kennesaw State will be back in action tomorrow as it hosts Stetson at the Laurel Park Tennis Center at 11 a.m.
