KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men’s tennis team looks to pick up where they left off last weekend in conference play as it welcomes Florida Gulf Coast and Stetson for their Atlantic Sun Conference home openers this weekend.
The Owls split their first two A-Sun matches last weekend as they beat Belmont 5-2 on Friday, but lost to Lipscomb by a score of 5-2 on Saturday.
“We have put ourselves in a position to compete for a spot in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament with our win against Belmont,” head coach #T.J. Greggs# said. “We will need to play disciplined tennis this weekend to continue our successful start.”
The Black and Gold have been feeding off successful doubles play to begin their matches this season. The doubles team of junior Simon Janik and sophomore Elliot Kahler have led the charge as they have posted a 7-2 record, with a 5-0 mark at the No. 2 spot.
Kennesaw State has all-time records of 1-1 against Florida Gulf Coast, and 0-2 against Stetson.
Florida Gulf Coast enters this weekend with a record of 2-8 (0-3 A-Sun), but it has won two of their previous three overall matches. Stetson comes into the weekend with a mark of 10-4 (1-1 A-Sun) with its lone conference loss coming against Campbell on Mar. 5.
The match against Florida Gulf Coast on Friday is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. , while the Owls match against Stetson on Saturday is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start. Both matches will be played at Laurel Park Tennis Center.
