KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men’s tennis team is looking to make its mark on the Atlantic Sun Conference this season, and after a 5-4 start to the year it will begin conference play this weekend when it travels to Belmont on Mar. 4 and Lipscomb on Mar. 5.
The Owls are 0-2 all-time in A-Sun openers, but head coach #T.J. Greggs# knows the importance of getting out to a fast start in conference play.
"This is going to be an exciting start to the conference season, as we had two very competitive matches last season with Belmont and Lipscomb, and I expect this season's matches to be tight ones as well,” coach Greggs said. “We've had this weekend circled on the schedule since it came out last year. It is crucial that we bring out our best tennis for both matches as we make a push to qualify for our first Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament.”
Belmont enters this weekend’s action winless so far this season as they are 0-3, while Lipscomb comes in at 3-4.
Leading the way for the Owls is sophomore
Elliot Kahler who leads the team with 13 combined wins this season. He finished conference play last season on a strong note winning four of his last six overall matches.
The match against Belmont on Friday is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. CT, while the Owls match on Saturday at Lipscomb is scheduled for a 2 p.m. CT start.
