KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State's volleyball team will take to the road after an idle weekend for a pair of Atlantic Sun Conference contests this Friday and Saturday.  The Owls visit USC Upstate Friday evening at 7 p.m. before traveling to take on East Tennessee State at 3 p.m. Saturday.

"It was good to get a week off to rest and recover from the season so far, but it's even better to be back out on the court," said KSU head coach Karen Weatherington.  "We're in a quirky part of our schedule where we'll play Upstate and ETSU on back-to-back weekends, but it doesn't matter when you play the teams that are on your schedule; it matters more that you put in the effort to win every match that's on your schedule."

The Owls (9-12, 4-2) currently sit fourth in the A-Sun standings with a one and one-half match lead over ETSU for the fifth spot.  KSU has won its last four times on the court, including a pair of sweeps Oct. 7 and 8 at home over Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast.  Alyssa Lang was named A-Sun Player of the Week the last time the Owls were in action after recording her 1,000th career kill.

Upstate (7-14, 2-5) won its last two home A-Sun contests, defeating Jacksonville and North Florida.  Still, the Spartans have dropped three of their last four contests overall, including a sweep at the hands of South Carlolina State Wednesday night in Spartanburg.  Kayla McAvoy had eight kills to lead the Spartans in defeat, while setter Emily Sanders had 22 assists and 12 digs.

KSU has had good luck against the Spartans.  The Owls have a 4-2 lead in the all-time series, including a, 3-1, win in the home season finale last year.

Saturday, the Owls will pay a visit to ETSU with a measure of revenge on their minds.  While KSU defeated ETSU last year in the regular season, 3-1, en route to clinching the No. 2 seed for the A-Sun Championships, it was the Bucs who had the last laugh.  ETSU defeated KSU, 3-1, in the semifinals of last year's A-Sun Championships, as the Bucs moved into the finals where they would fall in five sets to eventual champion Lipscomb.  This year's edition of the ETSU squad has lost its last two matches, including a five-set defeat at the hands of Presbyterian on the road last Tuesday.

The Bucs lead the all-time series against the Owls, 5-3.  The Owls have won the last two meetings between the teams during the regular season.

Live audio of both matches this weekend will be available for free by clicking here 15 minutes prior to first serve.
