BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The phrase no rest for the weary couldn’t be more true for the Kennesaw State women’s soccer team as they are getting ready for their third road match in their last seven days when they take on Campbell on Thursday night at 7 p.m.

Head Coach Rob King’s squad is coming off a tough Atlantic Sun Conference road trip down to the Sunshine State in which the Black and Gold came out with two hard-fought losses to Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast.

The Owls couldn’t overcome a slow start in a 4-1 loss at Stetson last Friday night. The Hatters scored three goals in a span of 22 minutes in the middle of the first half to pull away from Kennesaw State for a 4-1 win. The Black and Gold’s lone goal came in the 61st minute as a pair of juniors hooked up with Alyssa Mahan feeding the ball to Katie Scott who scored her first goal of the season in the loss.

On Sunday afternoon, Kennesaw State gave everything they had against first-place Florida Gulf Coast, but came up just short in a 1-0 loss. After a scoreless first half, the Eagles recorded the lone goal of the match in the 52nd minute of play off a corner kick to secure the win. The Owls couldn’t get anything going offensively all afternoon against the FGCU defense, while goalkeeper Melissa Hutto made six saves in a losing effort.

As the Owls hit the road again for Thursday’s match they will be traveling to a place where they feel right at home. The state of North Carolina has been good to the Black and Gold over the years as they have a 4-1 record in the Tar Heel State since 2005. Kennesaw State’s lone loss came against Wake Forest in the 2009 NCAA Tournament.

Coach King knows how important this game is for both squads as the end of the regular season is now in sight. Kennesaw State and Campbell are also currently tied for fourth-place in the A-Sun.

"This match is a very crucial one for both team's, but we have made a couple of adjustments from last weekend's games, and we will be ready."

Campbell (6-7-1, 3-3 A-Sun) was picked to finish seventh in the A-Sun Preseason Poll and are coming off a 9-9-2 record last season. Under fifth-year head coach Todd Clark, the Fighting Camels return ten starters, including junior goalkeeper Jamie Panfil who currently boasts a 1.22 GAA with one shutout. Campbell is coming off a 2-0 win over Lipscomb on Saturday night.

The Owls are a perfect 5-0-0 all-time against the Fighting Camels.
