12/4/2009 3:17:29 PM

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State will look to get back in the win column on Saturday evening when they host the Lipscomb Bisons in an Atlantic Sun Conference game at 7:30 p.m. at the KSU Convocation Center.

The Owls (3-4, 0-1 A-Sun), who will be ending their brief, two-game homestand, enter Saturday’s game after a heart-wrenching overtime loss to Belmont on Thursday night, despite a 32-point, 11-rebound performance by Markeith Cummings.

Cummings had a stellar night as he posted his second double-double of the year. The redshirt freshman tied the game with a three-pointer from in front of the Owls bench as four Belmont defenders clawed at the shot with 3.8 seconds left.

The Savannah, Ga. native is one of three Kennesaw State players averaging in double figures this season as he is leading the team is scoring at 18 points per game. Jon-Michael Nickerson and Kurtis Woods are scoring over 12 points a game as the Owls are averaging close to 80 points as a team.

Lipscomb (2-4, 1-0 A-Sun) enters the game after defeating Mercer, 98-89, in Macon, Ga. behind a career-high 31 points from Jordan Burgason. The Bisons have won two straight games after beginning the season with four losses, which included defeats at the hands of Ohio State and Vanderbilt.

Adnan Hodzic leads the Bisons with a 22.3 points per game scoring mark and is one of only two players, along with Mercer’s James Florence (24.1 ppg), in the A-Sun averaging over 20 points per game this season. Hodzic is also averaging a team-high 8.2 rebounds and is one of only four players in the conference averaging over eight rebounds.

The Bisons have four players averaging in double-figures including Josh Slater (17.3 ppg), Brandon Brown (12.2 ppg) and Jordan Burgason (11.0 ppg) as they are averaging 79.5 points as a team on the heels of three games in which they have scored over 85 points.

The game is the eighth all-time meeting between the teams with the Bisons holding a 4-3 advantage. Kennesaw State has won three of four meetings at the KSU Convocation Center, having won the first three meetings before a, 61-44, loss last season.

The game can be heard live on 920am WGKA and is also available on-line at www.920WGKA.com. Play-by-play announcer Craig Corbin and color analyst Scott Webb will call the action.

For the Kids
The Kennesaw State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will host its "3rd Annual Teddy Bear Toss" on Saturday evening, Dec. 5 during both games of the women’s and men’s basketball doubleheader against Lipscomb at the KSU Convocation Center.

Fans who bring a teddy bear to toss during half-time of either the women’s game at 5:00 p.m. or the men’s game at 7:30 p.m. will receive half-price admission to the game. All teddy bears collected on Saturday will be donated to a local children’s charity for the holiday season.

Over the past two years, the annual event has gathered over 400 teddy bears for children around the metro-Atlanta area. The goal for this year’s event is to double the previous two-year total and have 800 teddy bears donated.

Tip-off for the Lady Owls game is at 5:00 p.m. with the Owls game following at 7:30 p.m.
