The Kennesaw State women’s Track & Field program is on the cusp of becoming a perennial powerhouse of the Atlantic Sun Conference after posting runner-up finishes in both the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2009 and 2010.
The program is just a short time away from unveiling their brand-new, state-of-the-art facility to be used by the team in spring 2012. The facility will include a standard 400-meter track with eight lanes and will be surfaced by Rekortan, an IAAF (International Amateur Athletic Federation) certified product on which many world records have been set. The surface will be 15mm thick and is one of the top track surfaces in the country.
The event-ready facility will also have a water pit for steeplechase events and a separate throwing area for shot put competitions as well as high jump and pole vault areas at opposite ends of the track. A unique feature of the facility is the location of the of the long jump area, which will be situated outside of the track. This placement offers fans a rare, closer viewing perspective during the triple jump and long jump competitions.
Having sent individuals to the NCAA National Championship in each of the last two seasons, the program lead by second year Head Coach and Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Operations Andy Eggerth and his new staff consisting of Duane Morris, Ryan Wagner and Agne Eggerth look to propel the team to the next level.
Returning some of the conferences top performers in the conference, the women’s squad returned for 2012 seven All-Conference Award Winners including Cynthia Davis (100 meter dash), Tai Dorsett (4x400 relay) Victoria Jackson (4x400 relay), Naomi Mack (heptathlon) Suzee Mills (discus and javelin) Michelle Quimby (pole vault) and Brittany Robinson (4x400 relay)
