  • Title
    Assistant Coach
Brian Lawhon comes to Kennesaw State after spending one year with the John Lucas Player Development Company, helping develop players from all levels including professional athletes and amateurs preparing for the NBA draft.

“I am blown away by this opportunity,” Lawhon said. “It’s an honor to be a part of such a great family that is dedicated to the student-athlete in all aspects of their life. Mr. Vaughn Williams has given me an opportunity to not only teach the game of basketball, but to impact these athletes’ lives. Coach Jimmy Lallathin has a tireless work ethic and I'm excited to follow him into this journey of leading Kennesaw State University to the top of the Atlantic Sun (Conference).”

On the college coaching level, Lawhon most recently served four seasons at Wilmington College from 2007-11 where he was in charge of academics, recruiting and team practices. While with the Quakers, Lawhon helped lead the team to three winning seasons including a 22-8 mark in 2009-10.

Prior to his time at Wilmington College, Lawhon spent 2005-07 with Bellarmine University as the team’s video coordinator while also conducting individual workouts and developing scouting reports.

As an assistant varsity coach at Lakota East High School in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, Lawhon helped lead his team to a 2004-05 conference championship and a 41-23 overall record.

Lawhon is a graduate of Atlantic Sun Conference member Northern Kentucky where he helped the Norse accumulate a 92-33 record from 1997-2001. The guard helped his team garner top 10 finishes in three of those seasons including a trip to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2000-01. The four-year starter earned Freshman of the Year honors from the Great Lakes Valley Conference and was a three-time all-league honoree, and still holds school records for most three-pointers in a game (11), highest single-game field goal percentage (1.000, 10-for-10) and highest three-point field goal percentage in a game (.778, 7-for-9).

Lawhon will work with the guards at KSU as well as produce scouting reports and aid in recruiting.
