Previewing the Buccaneers in 2017
The Bucs and the Owls will meet Saturday, November 11th at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. In last year's meeting, Charleston Southern took down Kennesaw State 28-7 in Charleston. Sophomore quarterback Shane Bucenell will return under center for the Bucs after a phenomenal freshman campaign in which he threw for 1100 yards and 15 touchdowns. Another sophomore on the offensive side is wide receiver Kameron Brown who led the Bucs with 540 reception yards while also tallying six touchdowns. On defense, the Big South defensive player of the year in 2016, Anthony Ellis will return for his senior year after leading the Big South in sacks and sacks per game. Charleston Southern finished 7-4 last year, and won the Big South with a 4-1 conference record, earning them an automatic bid to the NCAA FCS Playoffs.
