KENNESAW, Ga. --
In continuing efforts to expedite entry while maintaining the safety of all patrons, the Kennesaw State Department of Athletics has announced changes to its pregame protocols for football games at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

"Our fans and students created an incredible atmosphere at our first home game," said interim director of athletics Matt Griffin. "We did, however, hear from patrons regarding long waits at the gate. The safety and satisfaction of our guests are our top priorities. Our staff met immediately to address those concerns, and we expect these new measures will help speed up entry while maintaining a secure environment. We ask that patrons arrive early and continue to make Fifth Third Bank Stadium one of the best venues in the nation."

As always, early arrival is important, and patrons are asked to familiarize themselves with the Clear Bag policy and follow instructions from stadium personnel.

The following changes will be implemented, beginning with the game on Saturday, Sept. 30 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium:
  • Stadium gates will now open 90 minutes prior to kickoff – 30 minutes earlier than before. This will allow patrons more time to enter the stadium, the opportunity to view warmups, and enjoy concessions and vendors inside the stadium.
  • Security personnel will increase at all gates to help alleviate congestion.
  • Walk-through metal detectors will be added at certain high-traffic gates, while "wanding" will continue at all other gates. To minimize impact, please be prepared to remove your cell phone, camera, hat, keys and any other large metal objects from your person. You will not need to remove your watch, wallet, belt, jacket, shoes or coins.
  • The Clear Bag policy will still be enforced at all gates. A separate line will be added at Gate B for those without bags.
  • A new Premium gate, to be accessed by those holding Suite and Loge credentials/tickets, will be opened adjacent to Gate B. Those Suite and Loge patrons should have their proper credentials displayed. This new entry point will also be subject to security screening.
  • To improve pedestrian flow outside the stadium, wayfinding signage will be improved. The additional signage will include more maps and directional signage to gates, better visibility of gate locations, and reminders of the security screening at each gate.

More information on these gameday policies can be found online at KSUOwls.com/Gameday.

Finally, at the next home game – the "Gold Out" on Sept. 30 versus North Greenville at 3:30 p.m. – fans are encouraged to wear gold. The KSU Athletics Department is giving away free Adidas gold t-shirts to the first 2,000 KSU students (must enter through Gate G), while 1,000 gold t-shirts will be given to the first 1,000 fans, courtesy of Fifth Third Bank.
