Dr. Daniel Niederjohn is Kennesaw State's Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) after assuming the role on March 3, 2014.
Niederjohn came to KSU as an assistant professor of psychology in 2004 and was promoted to an associate professor in 2010.
In his role as KSU’s Faculty Athletics Representative, Niederjohn was appointed by, and reports to President Daniel S. Papp, and consults regularly with Vaughn Williams, Director of Athletics, and other appropriate individuals within the Department of Athletics.
In his role as Faculty Athletics Representative, Niederjohn is charged with championing academic integrity, promoting the welfare of student-athletes, and assisting in monitoring and ensuring institutional control of intercollegiate athletics.
During his time at Kennesaw State, Niederjohn has received numerous awards and fellowships, including the 2012 College of Humanities and Social Science Vassilis Economopoulos Distinguished Teaching Award. He was a finalist for the honor in 2008 and 2009.
In addition to his position as a Kennesaw State faculty member, Niederjohn serves as a licensed psychologist at Herring and Niederjohn Psychological Associates where he provides psychotherapy for adolescents, adults and couples in a private practice setting.
Prior to coming to KSU, Niederjohn served as a visiting assistant professor at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn.
A member of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology and Psi Chi, the honor society for psychology, Niederjohn earned a bachelor’s of arts degree in psychology with a minor in education from Dartmouth in 1997. He went onto receive his master’s degree and doctorate in psychology from University of Tennessee in 1999 and 2002, respectively.
Niederjohn and his wife, Melissa, have two sons, Max (8) and Jesse (6). While at Dartmouth, Niederjohn was a four-year letter winner where he competed in the decathlon and pole vault as a member of track and field team.
