Cooper competed in varsity cross country and track & field all four years at Southwest DeKalb High School... Won a region championship in the 800m in 2009 and 2011 and the 1600m 2011... State runner-up in the 800m in 2011… Helped lead her team to State Championships in 2009 and 2011... Named All-State for indoor in the 800m and the mile... Earned All-American honors in the 1500m in 2011 with a time of 4:47.45… Had a personal best in the 800m of 2:16.16, 1600m 5:09.44, 3200m 11:26.50, 5000m (cross country) 19:06.00… Set the school records in the 3200m and 5000m… Finished seventh at the 2011 USATF Nationals in Wichita, Kansas.
