Bilal Abdullah begins his first season as a volunteer coach for the KSU track programs in 2016-17. Abdullah was a combined eventer who came to Kennesaw State in the fall of 2012. Since arriving on campus, he has quickly become one of the most successful athletes in school history. As a freshman, he earned ASUN Most Outstanding Freshman Performer Awards in both Indoor and Outdoor track teams. He has made the All-Conference team a combined 20 times in indoor and outdoor track including seven conference individual championships, and 19 Athlete of the Week Awards. In 2015, Abdullah became the first Owl to score points at an NCAA Track Championships when he placed fourth in the heptathlon earning All-American Honors. During this past indoor season, Abdullah was named Most Outstanding Performer for his performance at the ASUN Championship where he collected two first and two second place finishes in four events. He would earn All-American Honors for finishing sixth in the heptathlon and for finishing 15th in the long jump at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Championships. Abdullah holds nine school records combined in outdoor and indoor track. He won the decathlon at the 2016 ASUN Outdoor Championships scoring a conference championship record of 7286 points. He competed in the NCAA Championship East Preliminary Rounds and the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials in the long jump. Abdullah led the Owls to eight straight conference championship titles in outdoor and indoor track. Â The Snellville, Georgia native will graduate in December of 2016 with a degree in computer science.
