Brooks Thomas

Kennesaw State women's golf added Brooks Thomas to the staff July 28, 2023.   It was instant success for Thomas in his first season as he assisted the Owls to their first ASUN crown in four years. The assistant was part of a team that shattered records starting with the lowest team score in program history at the Sam Golden Invitational (857). Four Owls collected ASUN Golfer of the Week awards including three sperate winners, the most weekly awards since 2021. He contributed to lowering three regular season scoring averages (Kil, Jecnik and Kelly) en route to coaching four All-ASUN postseason award winners.
Thomas comes directly from his heading coaching duties at Cleveland State Community College. In the spring, he led the Cougars to a 12th place finish in the NJCAA D-II National Championship.   He not only comes with coaching experience, but also with top tier accolades as a professional golfer. From the fall of 2017 through 2022, he competed in numerous professional tours including the All Pro Tour and Gpro Tour. Thomas qualified for the 2021 Simmons Bank Open on the Korn Ferry Tour, finished eighth on the 2020 SwingThought Tour money list (70.2 scoring average) and won three times on the Open Golf Atlanta Tour.   Before showcasing his abilities in the pro circuit, Thomas competed for four years at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He landed on the All-Southern Conference team (73.15 scoring average) in the '16-'17 season. In his amateur career, Thomas competed in the 2012 Junior U.S. Amateurs and 2017 U.S. Amateurs.  He maintained a 74.99 career scoring average while at UT Chattanooga before graduation with a Bachelor of Psychology in 2017. Following graduation, he served as an assistant coach for the Mocs men's golf team until the spring of 2018.
