Teresa Brown will be entering her first season as assistant coach for the Lady Owls after spending the past three seasons at Georgia State University serving as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. A native of Albany, Ga., Brown comes to the Owls after three successful years as an assistant under head coach Lea Henry at Georgia State where she helped the Panthers make the transition from the Atlantic Sun Conference to the Colonial Athletic Association. Brown will be involved with recruiting, scouting and player coaching with the Owls. She will also help with summer camp coordination and fundraising as well as monitoring the academic progress of student athletes. While at GSU, Brown was in charge of scouting and scheduling opponents and is known for her excellent recruiting abilities. In her last season at Georgia State she helped coach an CAA All-Conference selection and an CAA All-Rookie selection as well as a CAA All-Academic Honorable Mention. Prior to her time at GSU, Brown spent two years as an assistant coach at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, N.C. where she helped lead the Catamounts to a 30-26 record in two seasons including a 17-11 finish in her final season. She began her collegiate coaching career at Georgia State where she served as an assistant with the women's basketball program during the 2006 season. She began her coaching career at the prep level, serving as head coach of both Athens Academy and her alma mater Deerfield-Windsor High School in Albany, Ga. She captured a regional championship at each school and was named the 1997 GISA Coach of the Year while at Deerfield-Windsor. As a player, Brown was a member of the University of Florida women's team. She was a four-year letter winner and selected to the All-SEC Academic Team four times. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Health Science Education from Florida in 1993. She makes her home in Mableton, Ga.
