Talvis Franklin

Talvis Franklin has been hired to be the newest women's basketball assistant coach, head coach Nitra Perry announced on Friday, June 28.

Franklin arrives at Kennesaw State after spending one year as the head junior high basketball coach and assistant varsity coach for both the men’s and women’s teams at the Tupelo Christian Preparatory School in Belden, Miss.
 
While at TCPS, Franklin was involved in all aspects of the program, including organizing practices and implementing game plans for competition, conducting skill instruction and player development, and academic success.
 
Prior to his time at Tupelo, Franklin spent 10 years at Mississippi State University, first as a student manager and then as the coordinator of operations and video coordinator for the men’s basketball program under legendary head coach Rick Stansbury from 2007 to 2012.
 
Franklin’s responsibilities at MSU included assisting the head coach and assistants in the daily operations of the program, academic development, maintenance of equipment, team travel, film exchange and overseeing of a group of six student managers.
 
While at MSU, Franklin was a part of five Southeastern Conference (SEC) Western Division Championships, one overall SEC Championship and a SEC Tournament Championship, as well as five NCAA tournament appearances.
 
Franklin holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and physical education from Mississippi State.
 
A 1992 graduate of Shannon High School as the class salutatorian, he also participated in basketball and football during his prep playing days.
