Leigh Swanson Carroll joins the women's basketball program for the 2008-09 season as an assistant coach.
Swanson Carroll is no stranger to intercollegiate athletics, nor is she unfamiliar with Coach Tilley. Swanson Carroll played for Coach Tilley while he was head coach at Auburn University at Montogmery.
As a four-year starter for AUM, Swanson Carroll ended her playing career as the all-time leading scorer in men's or women's basketball history for the school with 2,336 career points. At the end of her playing days, her jersey was retired. In 2005, Swanson Carroll was inducted in the inaugural classs of the AUM Hall of Fame.
Following her playing days, Swanson Carroll was an assistant coach at AUM for two seasons. In those years, the team went 68-7, with two trips to the NAIA National Tournament.
After her stay at UAM, Swanson Carroll moved into more of an administrative and fundraising role for the Eagle Club at Southern Miss. The next step professionally for Swanson Carroll was at Liberty Luniversity. Working with the men's basketball staff, she worked in all aspects of the program from assisting the recruiting coordinator to community relations.
Swanson Carroll and her husband Chris live with their sons Will (9) and Jack (4) in Woodstock, Ga.
