Leigh Swanson Carroll

Leigh Swanson Carroll is back for her second season with the women’s basketball program after joining the team as an assistant coach for the 2008-09 season.  Swanson Carroll will serve as the program’s academic coordinator, in additon to assisting with guard development and summer camps, as well as coordinating the film exchange program.

Swanson Carroll is no stranger to intercollegiate athletics, nor is she unfamiliar with Coach Tilley. Swanson Carroll played for Coach Tilley while he was head coach at Auburn University at Montgomery.

As a four-year starter at AUM, Swanson Carroll ended her playing career as the all-time leading scorer in men’s or women’s basketball history for the school with 2,366 career points. At the end of her playing days, her jersey was retired. In 2005, Swanson Carroll was inducted in the inaugural class of the AUM Hall of Fame.

Following her playing days, Swanson Carroll was an assistant coach at AUM for two seasons. In those years, the team went 68-7, with two trips to the NAIA National Tournament.

After her stay at AUM, Swanson Carroll moved into more of an administrative and fundraising role for the Eagle Club at Southern Miss. The next step professionally for Swanson Carroll was at Liberty University. Working with the men’s basketball staff, she worked in all aspects of the program from assisting the recruiting coordinator to community relations.

Swanson Carroll has earned a pair of degrees at AUM, earning a bachelor’s in Criminal Justice and a master’s in Public Administration, graduating with a 4.0 GPA.

Swanson Carroll and her husband Chris live with their sons Will (10) and Jack (5) in Woodstock, Ga.
