Dee Dee Dennis returns for her second season as an assistant coach at Kennesaw State for head coach Colby Tilley. Dennis comes to Kennesaw State after a successful stint as a player and an assistant coach at Georgia State.
Dennis was a four-year letterwinner at Georgia State from 2001-2005, starting for three of those seasons as the point guard. In back-to-back seasons, the Lady Panthers won the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament and the A-Sun regular season crown, advancing to the NCAA Tournament. Twice during her playing career, Dennis received A-Sun All-Acadmic honors and Georgia State’s Bruce LaBudde Sportsmanship Award. As a senior at Georgia State, Dennis logged personal-highs of 110 points and 60 rebounds for the season.
After completing her playing career, the Atlanta native was selected to participate in Nike’s "So You Want to be a Coach" program, supported by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and the NCAA. Dennis then moved into an administrative role in the women’s basketball office at Georgia State before heading back onto the bench as an assistant coach under head coach Lea Henry.
Dennis’ prep career took place at South Cobb High School, just minutes from the Kennesaw State campus. A four-year starter for the Eagles, Dennis was named her team’s Most Valuable Player three times, in addition to earning the role of team captain. During her time at SCHS, Dennis’ skills on the basketball court helped the Eagles to a 95-17 record. She was named Region 6-AAAA Player of the Year in 2001.
Dennis earned her bachelor’s degree from Georgia State in Accounting. She also earned her master’s degree from GSU.
