Wes Holly Jr.

Wes Holly, Jr. enters his second season at the helm of the Kennesaw State softball program after serving as an assistant coach, assistant head coach and associate head coach previously.

A well-experienced player in his own right, Holly has played ASA men's major open fast-pitch for the last 15 years. He has seen action in a host of positions, including shortstop, pitcher and catcher.

The Johnson City, Tenn. native made an immediate impact when he came to Kennesaw State. His knowledge and wisdom helped former Owls great, Brittany Matthews, break school records, setting the career strikeout record with 887 and also breaking the single game strikeout record with 18 strikeouts against Georgetown. For the season, Matthews totaled 281 strikeouts, the most strikeouts in a single season in her career and good enough to lead the Atlantic Sun Conference that season.

In 2010, pitchers Abbey Meixel and Jessica Cross both earned conference recognition, with Cross earning All A-Sun First Team honors and Meixel being named to the A-Sun All Freshman Team.

Under Holly's tutelage, Cross has finished in the top-10 in the A-Sun in Earned Run Average twice (2008, 2010), while Matthews' 1.53 ERA placed her fourth in the league in 2008.

Holly graduated from Milligan College in 2004 with a degree in Human Performance and Exercise Science. He and his wife, Tracy, reside in the Kennesaw area.
