Former Kennesaw State Owls  All-American Sarah Lockett joined the Kennesaw State coaching staff as an assistant in 2009.

Lockett, a former player and graduate assistant for the Owls, is a native of Perth, Australia and arrives at Kennesaw State after serving as an assistant coach at Coastal Carolina for four years.

Lockett has gained a strong reputation in the fastpitch community. She works as the Owls chief hitting instructor and will work with infield defense. She also serves as Kennesaw State's recruiting coordinator, as well as aiding in numerous administrative responsibilities.

In 2010, Lockett helped guide the Owls to their first-ever appearance in the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament, where they beat USC Upstate in their first game for the first win in the program's Division I postseason history.

Since returning to Kennesaw, two players have earned spots on the All A-Sun First Team  (Jessica Cross, Ashlee Burkett- 2010). Her hitting instruction has reaped many rewards for the Black and Gold, as she helped Owls freshman Ashlee Burkett rank in the top-10 in the A-Sun in batting average, Slugging Pct., On-Base Pct. RBIs and hits in 2010, while Jessica Cross also placed in the top-10 in RBIs.

During her time at Coastal Carolina, Lockett helped lead the Chanticleers to the 2006 Big South regular season and tournament titles, earning a trip to an NCAA Regional. Over the course of her tenure in Conway, S.C., 13 of her players earned All-Big South honors. She also helped the Coastal Carolina squad set consecutive single-season team home run records.

Lockett played one season for the Owls in 2002 where she starred at third base on her way to earning NCAA Division II All-American honors. She hit .406 in the regular season and .353 in the postseason as she finished with 11 home runs and 54 runs batted in, helping to guide the Owls to the NCAA Division II National Tournament.

Prior to joining the Owls program as a player, she spent three years as a star at Coastal Carolina, and sits in the top-five all-time in program history in career batting average (.374), home runs (37), doubles (44) and slugging percentage (.679). With Lockett in the lineup, the Chanticleers won back-to-back Big South Conference titles in 2000 and 2001, going to the NCAA Tournament in both years. Her incredible career landed her a spot in the Coastal Carolina Athletics Hall of Fame, where she was inducted in 2006.

In addition to her stellar collegiate career, Lockett played internationally for almost a decade, starring on the Great Britain and Australian national teams. She was a member of the Great Britain squad for three years before retiring in 2006 and played for the Australian squad in several international tournaments between 1998 and 2002.

Lockett is a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and was a She earned a Master of Conflict Management from Kennesaw State in 2003 after earning her undergraduate degree from Coastal Carolina in 2002.
