Leigh Prickett

Leigh Prickett begins her second season as a member of the Kennesaw State softball coaching staff in 2012.

Owls head softball coach Scott Whitlock announced the addition of Prickett to his staff as an assistant coach on Sep. 26, 2011. She brings with her to Kennesaw four years of collegiate coaching experience, spending three seasons at Reinhardt University in Waleska, Ga., prior to joining Whitlock's staff.

During her time at Reinhardt, Prickett’s responsibilities on the staff included working with the infielders and with the entire roster on their hitting skills. She helped guide the Eagles to a combined 109-44 record from 2009-11, capturing Appalachian Athletic Conference championships in 2010 and 2011, with this past season culminating with a ranking of No. 13 in the nation and an appearance in the NAIA National Tournament. She also played a pivotal role in her student-athlete’s individual success, as Reinhardt players garnered 17 all-conference selections during her three years there.

For the past two years, Prickett also served as an Adjunct Professor in Reinhardt’s Price School of Education, as well as the Director of Intramural Sports Programs.

Prickett began her coaching career in 2008 as a student volunteer at Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va., where she lettered for four years at third base for the Thundering Herd. She graduated Magna cum Laude in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, and completed her Master’s degree in Athletic Administration at Marshall in 2008.

During her playing career at Marshall, which spanned from 2003 to 2006, Prickett established herself in the Thundering Herd records books, as she currently ranks third all-time in career home runs (27) and doubles (39), fourth in RBIs (126) and fifth in games played (226), total bases (276) and walks (62). Her play helped the program to a pair of Mid-American Conference (MAC) regular season titles, and earned her a spot on the 2005 All-MAC Second Team and 2006 Conference USA All-Tournament Team. A star in the classroom, she was a four-time National Fast Pitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar Athlete.

A native of Acworth and graduate of North Cobb High School, Wintter and her husband, Leon, were married on July 21. The couple currently resides in Acworth.
