2007 Season
Was the Atlantic Sun Conference Pitcher of the Year and a First Team All-A-Sun selection...led the league in wins (23), strikeouts (246), shutouts (10) opponents batting average and winning percentage...set the Kennesaw State single-game strikeout record twice in 2007...struck out 15 batters in an eight-inning, 1-0, win over Gardner-Webb (2/24)...broke her own record when she fanned 16 against Northern Colorado in the KSU Invitational (4/27)...threw the third no-hitter of her career when she beat A-Sun rival Stetson at Bailey Park (4/6)...is now a major fixture in the Owls single-season and career-pitching lists...is listed in the top 10 in 11 career pitching categories...is third in games (107), fourth in shutouts (31)...second in strikeouts (606), second in strikeouts per innings pitched (7.61), third in hits per innings pitched (4.44), fifth in wins (70), third in starts (88), second in saves (8), sixth in complete games (53) and third in innings pitched (557.2)...cracked the single-season top 10 list in six categories in 2007 including having the second-highest strikeout total in school-history with 246, just six behind the all-time season record of 252 set by Christina Caldwell in 1999...is only the third pitcher to strikeout more than 200 batters in a season...she also cracked the single-season list top 10 list in games (7th), shutouts (10th), starts (9th), saves (9th) and innings pitched (10th)...had nine multi-strikeout games...had back-to-back shutouts twice...first time coming against Liberty (2/25) and Georgia State (2/28) and then again versus Jacksonville (4/20) and North Florida (4/21)...had a pair of eight-inning no-hitters...stopped Samford in a 1-0 win with a nine-strikeout, three walk performance in a 1-0 win (2/21) before beating Gardner-Webb in her 15 strikeout gem...picked up three saves during the season...stopped Mississippi Valley State (3/10), Stetson (4/6) and Campbell (4/7)...in the three games she posted a 1.93 ERA with nine strikeouts in four and two-third innings...averaged 8.61 strikeouts per seven innings.
2006 Season
Appeared in 29 games last season making 25 starts... was a First Team All-Atlantic Sun Conference selection...threw two-no-hitters as part of her 14 complete games...pitched her first no-hitter against Eastern Michigan (2/28) when she pitched a six-inning gem as the Owls won 8-0...in the game she struck out 11 batters and walked one...her second no-hitter came in the second game of a doubleheader against Gardner-Webb (4/8)...the gem followed teammate Lisa Lamb[apos]s no-hitter in the first game and marked the first time in KSU history that the Owls had no-hitters thrown in the both ends of a doubleheader, Matthews struck out 10 and walked one in the Owls 8-0 win...tossed nine shutouts...had seven double-digit strikeout games with five of them coming in run-ruled games...pitched a one-hitter in the second game of a doubleheader against Stetson (4/15) when she struck out 10 and walked two in an 8-0 win...won her final seven starts of the year...earned a pair of saves late in the season...her first save came when she struck out four of the six batters she faced in preserving he Owls 4-2 win over Mercer (4/18)...pitched an inning and a third of perfect relief as the Owls downed Lipscomb, 5-1 (4/20)...did not allow a run in her last six innings of relief work...pitched back-to-back two-hitters, defeating UNC Wilmington (3/3) and UNC Greensboro (3/4)...struck out 11 and walked two against UNCW and whiffed five and walked one against the Spartans...threw a two-hitter and struck out 11 in the Owls 3-0 win over rival North Florida (3/26)...won a 3-0 decision as she pitched a three-hitter against Mercer (4/18).
2005 Season
Was a Second Team All-South Atlantic Region selection and was also named to the All-Peach Belt Conference team...led the Peach Belt in shutouts, wins, starts, appearances and innings pitched...the southpaw enjoyed one of the finest first-years in the history of the program as she led the Owls in nearly every pitching category...her 29 wins is the fourth highest single-season total in school history, trailing only a pair of legends in Lacey Gardner (33 wins in 2000), and Kelly Rafter (32 wins in 1995 and 31 victories in 1996)...her win total was the most ever by a freshman...led the Owls in twelve pitching categories and is already listed in eight career top ten categories including wins (9th), winning percentage (7th), complete games (9th), shutouts (7th), innings pitched (9th), strikeouts (9th), strikeouts/innings pitched (4th) and hits/innings pitched (4th)...had one of the most memorable games in Kennesaw State history as she threw an eight-strikeout, perfect game against Coker in an elimination game during the South Atlantic Regionals...started her collegiate career with a bang as she threw 23.2 innings of work without allowing a run...won her first collegiate decision, shutting out Belmont-Abbey, 1-0...pitched five innings of two-hit ball while striking out a season-best ten batters...in her second college start she earned her only save of the season when she tossed 2.2 innings of scoreless work in a 9-4 win over Limestone...in her third start she threw her first career complete game shutout as she blanked Tusculum, 2-0, with a four-hit, ten strikeout performance...tossed a one-hitter against Nebraska-Omaha on February 25, allowing only a two-out single to Leslie Svodoba in the third inning...had her third ten strikeout performance on February 26, when she beat Lenoir-Rhyne, 3-1, with a four-hit complete game...went 4-0 during the Owls trip to Hawai[apos]i, beating Chaminade twice, BYU-Hawai[apos]i and Hawai[apos]i Pacific...put together 0.93 earned run average during the trip, allowing just 16 hits in 22.2 innings while striking out 20 and throwing pair of shutouts...struck out nine batters and allowed just four-hits in a 2-0 complete game win over Francis Marion on March 26...pitched a six-inning complete game shutout, striking out nine in a 8-0 win over UNC Pembroke...earned her 20th win of the year in relief as she pitched three innings of shutout ball as the Owls came-from-behind to beat Lander, 4-3...won her first post-season decision as pitched three-shutout innings in a 15-2 win over No. 20-ranked USC Upstate, 15-2...enjoyed a triumphant World Series as she pitched five consecutive elimination games, posting a 4-1 record...first kept the Owls alive with a two-hit gem against Le Moyne in which she struck out two batters...followed with another two-hitter against Bloomsburg in which she ran her postseason scoreless streak to fifteen innings...the streak ended at 20 innings when she allowed three runs in the sixth inning against San Francisco State...she picked up the win as the Owls rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 4-3 win...dominated the nation[apos]s top-ranked team as she downed Northern Kentucky with a three-hit, nine strikeout performance, eliminating UNK...culminated the season with a selection to the All-National Tournament team after posting a 1.06 earned run average in 33 innings of work in five starts...finished the postseason with a 5-1 record.
Prep Career
Came to Kennesaw State after a stellar four-year career at Starr[apos]s Mill High School...played varsity for three and half seasons...was named team[apos]s Most Valuable Player her senior year and also received the Defensive Player of the Year Award...ended her prep career with a miniscule 0.11 earned run average...led her high school team to a state runner-up finish in 2003 while pitching in seven of the teams eight games...played summer ball for Peachtree City Elite before playing last season for the East Cobb Bullets...was a member of the 10u World Series Championship team.
