Jason Carruthers

Jason Carruthers is back for his second season as an Assistant Track and Field Coach at Kennesaw State University. During their first year under

Carruther’s tutelage, Owls throwers set new school records in the women’s and men’s weight throw, women’s and men’s indoor shot put, women’s outdoor shot put, women’s discus throw, women’s hammer throw. Three of his athletes won A-Sun Championships, with 11 earning All-Atlantic Sun honors.

Carruthers is a graduate of Marietta High School in Georgia. He attended college at Indiana State University, where he graduated with a degree in

Political Science with an emphasis in Legal Studies.

While at Indiana State, Carruthers competed on the Track and Field team for five years, serving as team captain for three of those years. In addition, he was a school record holder in the weight throw, with a toss of 69’7.5", and was the team MVP for the `03-`04 season, as well as an NCAA Automatic qualifier in the 35 lb. weight throw.

Carruthers was also a winner of the Hillman Award, the most prestigious Athletic honor that Indiana State awards, given annually to one male and one female student-athlete that best represents athleticism, scholastic achievement, and ethical behavior.

Multiple times Carruthers was named a Verizon Scholar Athlete, an Academic All-American, All-Conference

for the Missouri Valley Conference, MVP Champion in the 35 lb. weight and hammer, and a member of the NCAA All-Mid East Region team.

Carruthers is currently pursing a Master’s Degree in Public Administration at Kennesaw State.
