Chad Wilson

A three-year letter winner at Kennesaw State, Chad Wilson begins his first season as an assistant coach after being hired by head coach #Jay Moseley this past summer.

Wilson, a three-time Atlantic Sun Conference All-Academic Team selection from 2008-2011, returns to Kennesaw State after serving as an assistant coach at Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn.

"I could not be more excited about having Chad Wilson join our program as an assistant coach," Moseley said. "Chad was a great leader here as a player and he will continue to be a positive influence on our players in his new coaching role.

"He has already hit the ground running and has been a tremendous asset for our recruiting," Moseley added. "After a year and a half stint at Lee University as a graduate assistant, Chad learned a lot and he is excited to apply his knowledge and continue his development as a coach here at KSU."

During Wilson's time at Lee, the Flames captured seven team tournament titles, won back-to-back South Atlantic Coast Conference (SACC) championships and placed sixth at the NAIA National Championships. Additionally, the program had six individual champions, achieved the highest national ranking (6th) in school history, produced one first team All-American, six All-American Scholars and twice received the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-Scholar Team GPA Award.

While a student-athlete at Kennesaw State, Wilson, who served as a co-captain, played a vital role in helping the Owls gain national prominence as the program earned its first NCAA Division I postseason appearance and advanced to the NCAA Championships in 2011.

Wilson and Kennesaw State made program history in 2011 when they captured the Atlantic Sun Conference championship for the first time. He also was active in the community during his collegiate career, giving time to the Special Olympics, Boys and Girls Club of Marietta and the Golden Soldiers Foundation.

Wilson earned a bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Kennesaw State in 2011. He currently is working on a master's degree in education.

Since earning his degree, Wilson has remained competitive in golf, most recently competing in the Georgia State Amateur at nearby Pinetree Country Club where he tied for 11th.

"I could not be more excited about the opportunity to rejoin the Owl family on a daily basis," Wilson said. "Coach Moseley was an outstanding coach during my playing years and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work beside not only a great coach, but an even better individual.

"My sincerest thanks go to Coach (John) Maupin who allowed me to get my start as his assistant over the past two years at Lee University. That experience pointed me in the right direction on becoming what I hope to be, a great coach," Wilson added. "Looking ahead, Coach Moseley has developed a well-rounded team that has the potential to continue competing at a high level amongst the best teams in the nation on the golf course and in the classroom for years to come.

"I would also like to thank Scott Whitlock and Vaughn Williams for allowing me to join the athletic department as the assistant men's golf coach," Wilson continued.
