2011 Season
Competed in six races during his senior year… Finished in eighth place at the GSU Invitational where he ran the 8k with a time of 26:17… At the Crimson Classic, he placed 15
th in the 8k with a time of 25:32.96… Competed in the 8k at the ASUN Championships finishing with a time of 25:12.32… Finished in 58
th place at the NCAA South Regional where he competed in the 10k and finished with a time of 33:10.9.
2010 Season
Raced in six meets during the 2010 season which included a third place finish at the A-Sun Conference Championship and All-Conference honors… Began the season with a 21st place finish at the Crimson Classic with an 8k time of 25:37… Ran his fastest 8k time at the Greater Louisville Classic with a time of 24:42… Finished third at the A-Sun Championship with a time of 24:44 on the 8k course… Was the second highest Owl finisher at the NCAA South Region Championship coming in 31st in the 10k with a time of 31:22.
2009 Season
Competed in all eight races for the Owls last fall, finishing in the top-10 in five of them…Named to the All-Atlantic Sun Conference First Team with a fifth place finish at the A-Sun Championship, as he was the second-place Owl in the race with an 8k time of 25:54 to help the squad to the conference title…Was the top finisher among the Owls at the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on September 18, running the 8k race in 26:05 to finish in 19th place against some of the top competition in the south…Top finish of the season came at the KSU Owl Invitational in Kennesaw, where he placed third with a time of 16:12 in the 5k…Other top five finish was at the Mercer Invitational, where he posted a time of 27:00 in the 8k.
2008 Season
Named to the Atlantic Sun’s All-Freshman team on the strength of a 25th place finish at the Atlantic Sun Championships, completing the 8k course in 26:17… Fastest time of the season in a 5k was a 16:25 showing at the Front Runner Invitational in Chattanooga, where he finished 22nd…Also scored a 22nd place finish at the RunFit Invitational in Macon, running a 26:44 in the 8k event.
Prep Career
In 2007, Nieminen received the bronze medal in the Finnish Championships in the 4 by 1500 meter ... Placed fourth in the Finnish Junior Championships in the 5000 Meter event... Placed fourth in the 3000 Meter Steeple Chase event at the Finnish Junior Championships ... Won the Silver Medal at the Junior Finnish Cross Country Championships.

Born Jaakko Nieminen in Jyvaskyla, Finland, to Pekka and Tuuli Nieminen ... Is majoring in Business...Enjoys traveling and soccer in his spare time.
