Biography

Laura Carolina Ospino-Márquez is a Colombian graduate student, working on her Master of Arts degree in the Integrated Global Communications program at Kennesaw State University.

Ospino-Marquez moved to the United States August of 2024 to start her master’s degree. With the Owl Network, Ospino-Marquez has worked alongside other workers to learn new positions, such as Audio. She has continued to shadow and learn the Audio position over the course of a few months and is now thriving in this position.

Ospino-Marquez is an only child, born and raised in Cartagena. She earned her degree in Social Communication with an emphasis on communication development at the University of Cartagena. During her major as a Social Communicator, Ospino-Marquez, along with her classmates, created the first theatrical comedy group called “Amahlaya” at the university, and she was an actress and recreationist in this group. At the same time, Ospino-Marquez joined the Colombian Red Cross, where she became the coordinator of technology and communication for the volunteer team. In addition, as a volunteer, she worked on the line of action for the prevention of human trafficking and restoration of family contact.

When Ospino-Marquez earned her degree in Social Communication, she joined the Cartagena Writers’ Club and wrote some chronicles for “El Boletín del Jubilado” (The Retirement News). Along with her training in human trafficking, Ospino-Marquez participated in the contest “Tierra de Relatos” (Land of Stories), and she won the contest with her micro-story “Marchita” (Withered), which addresses human trafficking in Cartagena. Ospino-Marquez is passionate about etiquette, good manners, and has learned about etiquette by following the Carreño Manual and etiquette tips from Maria Paula Camacho. For Marquez, BBQ, Sancocho (a traditional Colombian soup), and enjoying the sunset at the beach with her family and friends are the perfect plans for her. Ospino-Marquez moved to the USA four months ago to start her master’s studies, so her new plans involve spending time outside with her aunt and her uncle to discover new places in her new home, the United States. Now that she resides in the United States, her new plans involve spending time outside with her aunt and her uncle to discover new places in her new home.
