Bob Roman is in his 24th season at Kennesaw State and fourth as the director of athletic fields.
Roman joined the KSU Department of Athletics in 1992 as an assistant coach, spending 16 seasons as a member of head coach Mike Sansing’s staff before assuming multiple responsibilities as director of baseball operations and serving in athletic operations. He also spent 10 years as an assistant professor in the University’s First-Year Experience Program.
During his tenure as an assistant coach, the Kennesaw State baseball program captured five regular season titles, made 13 postseason appearances and captured two national championships at both the NAIA and NCAA Division II level. The 1994 Owls claimed the school’s first-ever team national title and the 1996 squad won the NCAA Division II national championship.
After moving from the field to athletic operations, Roman’s responsibilities have included assisting the men’s basketball program, providing support with facility construction and maintenance, field maintenance for the baseball, softball and soccer fields, and initiating and designing the maintenance contract for the three athletic fields. His duties also have included coordinating baseball team travel and purchasing, and serving as baseball camp director.
A native of Euclid, Ohio, Roman earned a bachelor’s of science degree in physical education in 1998 and completed work on a master’s degree in education from West Georgia in 1990. He then spent one year (1991) as an assistant baseball coach at West Georgia before coming to Kennesaw State.
Roman and wife, Michele, have five children – Hannah (13), Joseph (10), Elizabeth (7), Paul (5) and Hope (2) – and live in Holly Springs, Ga.
