 Kennesaw State Men's Golf 

1982-83 - The Beginning

Gird Romer is named the college’s first men’s golf coach.  With no conference or national affiliation, the team enters local tournaments but is ineligible for any postseason play.

1985-86 - An NAIA District Title and National Championship

Men’s basketball coach Phil Zenoni accepts the dual role of head golf coach. Led by Jon Hough and John Draper, the Owls compile a 53-26 regular season record and go on to win the NAIA District Tournament. In the NAIA Nationals, Hough wins the individual title and the team finishes 10th in the nation. KC finishes the season with an 83-35 mark.

1991-92 - An NAIA Nationals Appearance 

With transfers Pat Abney and Kyle Owen leading the team, the Owls finish fourth in the NAIA Nationals. Both earn All-American honors with teammate Shonn Weldon - an All-America honorable mention pick.

1992-93 - Back-to-Back Nationals

The Owls earn an eighth-place finish at the NAIA National Tournament. Pat Abney, Kyle Owen and Ross Robertson (a Georgia State transfer) are the top scorers.

1995-96 - NCAA Division II Regionals

Head Coach Milton Abell and the Owls earn a spot in the NCAA Soouth Regionals.

1996-97 - Back-to-Back Trips to NCAA Regionals 

KSU finished sixth at the Peach Belt Championships but earned their second-consecutive bid to the NCAA Region Tournament.

1998-99 - A Third Trip to Regionals 

Franklin Abell, Spencer Askew, Robert Bruce, Jon Dunlap and Daniel Gross led the team to the third NCAA Region bid in four years.

2000-01 - Another NCAA Regional Bid

A 79-66-2 record included a bid to the NCAA Region Tournament.

2001-02 - The Best Season in DII Program History 

Former player Jon Dunlap was named the new head coach and the team proceeded to have their best season since 1994 with a 118-31-1 record. Luke Stephan, an Honorable-Mention All-American, and Thomas Baker earned All-PBC Tournament honors as the Owls finished second. A second-place finish in the NCAA Regionals led them to the Nationals at Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., where they finished seventh.

2002-03 - The NCAA DII Southeast Regional

Luke Stephan became the program’s fourth All-American after being named All-Peach Belt Conference and having a good finish in the NCAA Regionals. The team went 88-57-1 and finished sixth in the PBC and eighth at the NCAA Southeastern Regional. 

2003-04 - A Second Place Finish at NCAA Southeastern Regionals

At 78-73-2, KSU finished fifth in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament and eighth at the NCAA Southeastern Regionals. Kris Shepherd was named an Honorable-mention All-American.

June 18-19, 2009 - Nagy Plays in U.S. Open 

Rising junior Matt Nagy competes in the first two rounds of the U.S. Open at Bethpage State Park in Bethpage, N.Y. Nagy shot 76-80. 

Sept. 8, 2009 - The Moseley Era Begins

Jay Moseley is named the fifth head coach in program history. Moseley took over the Owls program after a stellar career at Auburn where the three-year co-captain was an Honorable Mention All-American and All-Southeastern Conference selection. He was a graduate assistant coach for the Tigers in 2008-09. 

July 22-23, 2010 - Karlsson Competes in European Tour Event 

Jeff Karlsson teed it up in the European Tour’s Scandinavian Masters in his home country of Sweden. He shot 74-72 and narrowly missed the cut. 

2010-11 - The Best Season in Division I History 

In only their second year of eligibility for the NCAA postseason, the men won the Atlantic Sun Conference and after a third-place finish in the NCAA Southeastern Regional went onto finish 26th in the nation at the NCAA National Championships. Jeff Karlsson, who led the nation in stroke average, and Matt Nagy finished first and second, respectively, in the ASUN Tournament while teammate Ben Greene was awarded the golf Elite 88 Award.  The team won four tournaments and placed top six in 11 of 12 events. Jay Moseley was named ASUN Coach of the Year. 

2012 - Another NCAA Regional Appearance 

Kennesaw State returned to the postseason after having another successful campaign in 2011-12, winning three team titles and capturing one individual medalist honor. The Owls ranked No. 41 in the country and received the school's first-ever at-large bid to an NCAA postseason event. KSU was selected as the No.7 seed in the Ann Arbor Regional, hosted at the University of Michigan Course.

2012-13 - Back-to-Back NCAA Regional Appearances 

KSU posted a solid regular season, recording 11 top 10 finishes and four top five showings to earn a second consecutive at-large berth to the NCAA Regionals. KSU finished 14th at the NCAA Arizona Regional.

July 14, 2013 - Jimmy Beck Wins Georgia State Amateur Title

Kennesaw State rising junior Jimmy Beck fired a final round of 2-under par 69 to capture the 2013 Georgia State Amateur at the par-71, 7,108-yard Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw. Beck shot the low round of the day en-route to finishing the 72-hole event with a 1-over par 285 and posting a two-shot victory over Travis Williamson (Brunswick). He recorded rounds of 73-70-73-69.

2013-14 - Earning a Trip to the NCAA National Championships 

Kennesaw State put together a solid 2013-14 season in which it recorded eight top-five finishes in 11 events and 10 top-10 showings. The Owls won team titles at the Rees Jones Invitational (Sept. 24) and Pinetree Intercollegiate (Oct. 22) and were No. 37 in the national Golfstat rankings and No. 39 by Golfweek atfter a second -place finish at the ASUN Championships. Kennesaw State earned its fourth-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance after receiving an at-large bid to the Auburn Regional. A second-place finish in Auburn earned the Owls a trip to the NCAA Championships, where they would finish 26th. 

Nov. 14, 2014  - A Top 25 GCAA Team Ranking

The Kennesaw State men's golf team received a No. 24 national ranking by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). It marked the Owls' highest-ever ranking in the poll as a Division I program. The Owls finished top five in all five fall events including wins at the Reese Jones Invitational and Pinetree Intercollegiate.

2014-15 - Chapel Hill Regional-Bound 

KSU collected 11 top 10 finishes including two wins and two runner-up finishes to secure a fifth-consecutive bid to NCAA Regionals. The Owls led by Jimmy Beck, Teremoana Beaucousin and Austin Vick finish sixth at the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional, narrowly missing a chance to advance to the National Championships.  

July 9, 2015 - The Moseley Era Comes to a Close

Jay Molseley was hired by Ohio State to be their next men's golf coach.  In six seasons under Moseley's leadership, the Owls claimed the 2011 Atlantic Sun Conference title, appeared in five consecutive (2011-15) NCAA regionals and reached the NCAA Championships in 2011 and 2014. Additionally, Kennesaw State produced one All-American, six All-Southeast Region selections, two A-Sun Conference Players of the Year, three Scholar-Athletes of the Year, one Freshman of the Year, 14 all-conference picks and five all-freshman selections.  Over the course of his five seasons, Kennesaw State won 13 team titles, including a program-best five during the record-setting 2010-11 campaign. The Owls also produced 46 top five finishes, including 11 runner-up showings since the 2009-10 season. Under Moseley's mentorship, the program's success was not limited to just the course as his student-athletes excelled in the classroom. In 2013, Ben Greene and Peder Lunde Hermansson were named Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-Americas, and this past spring Jimmy Beck was voted to the Capital One Academic All-District Team. Additionally, nine student-athletes have been named to both the Cleveland/Srixon Golf All-America Scholar and A-Sun Conference All-Academic teams.

August 11, 2015 - The Bryant Odom Era Begins

Bryant Odom became the 11th head coach in program history. Odom brought a long list of impressive credentials to Kennesaw State that includes a distinguished collegiate playing career at UGA, head coaching experience at the Division I level (Western Carolina) and a successful amateur and professional playing career.

April 19, 2016 - Atlantic Sun Champions

Kennesaw State led wire-to-wire to win the 2016 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship and secure the program's second title. The Owls posted rounds of 283-290-291 to shoot an even-par total of 864. The Owls collected a seven-shot victory over second-place Jacksonville (871) at the par-72, 7,032-yard Legends Course at Chateau Elan in Braselton, Ga.

November 10, 2016 - Owls No. 24 in Final Fall Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll

 A successful start to the 2016-17 season that included a pair of runner-up finishes and two team titles in five events did not go unnoticed by coaches around the country as the Kennesaw State men's golf team received a No. 24 national ranking in the final fall Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll that was released by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

April 18, 2017 - Back-to-Back Atlantic Sun Champions

Kennesaw State repeated as ASUN Conference Championships in 2016. The Owls secured a one-shot victory over second-place Lipscomb at the par-72, 7,032-yard Legends Course at Chateau Elan in Braselton, Ga. KSU had four players finish in the top 28 individually including Jake Fendt and Pablo Rodriguez-Tabernero who tied for second. With the win, KSU secured and automatic berth into the NCAA Championships.

May 17, 2017 - Second Place at NCAA College Grove Regional 

No. 7-seed Kennesaw State carded rounds of 287-288-290 for a 1-over par total of to finish tied for second at the NCAA College Grove Regional and earn its third trip to the NCAA Championships. The tie for second matched Kennesaw State's best result at a regional, tying the Owls' finish at the 2014 Auburn Regional. The Owls had four players finish the top 39 individually. 

May 17, 2017 - Closing the Season at the NCAA National Championships

KSU finished 29th at the 2017 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.

Feb.7, 2021 - Coffee Goes Low at Raines Company Intercollegiate 

Connor Coffee picked up the second win of his collegiate career with a 7-under par 65  in the final round at the Country Club of South Carolina. Coffee made seven birdies and 11 pars during his final round. He finished the tournament at 15-under par 201. His 201 total score also established a new program record on a par-72 course. He led the field with 18 birdies in the 54-hole event. The Owls carded a 16-under par 272 in the final round to finish second at 29-under par 835. The 272 score on Sunday and the 835 total score both were program records on a par-72 course.
 
 
 

October 22, 2022 - Announcement of a New Journey

After over 17 years at the Division I level, Kennesaw State athletics announced a move to Conference USA and NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, effective July 1, 2024.

Fall 2023 - Three Tournament Team Victories 

The Owls made history winning three tournament titles in the fall of 2023. KSU opened the season with a victory at the Allstate Stareamsong Invitational. KSU then followed up with a win at the Carolina Cup. The third final win of the fall came at home at the Pinetree Intercollegiate. The Owls margin of victory in those three events was 5.66 shots.  Sean Cook won the individual title at the Pinetree Collegiate at 11-under par 205. 

May 15, 2024 - Borregaard Completes Play at NCAA Chapel Hill Regional

Claes Borregaard finishes tied for 54th as an individual at the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional at Foley Golf Club.
