Sport Performance FacilityThe Kennesaw State Department of Athletics proudly announced that the new KSU Sport Performance Facility was officially open for business for all KSU student-athletes as of November 14, 2011.
The facility is housed in the KSU Indoor Practice Facility on Big Shanty Road adjacent to KSU's main campus, which also houses the basketball, volleyball and golf indoor practice facilities. The 3,000-square foot facility features high ceilings, spacious workout areas and state-of-the-art equipment, including the addition of six treadmills in 2015.
Senior Associate Athletics Director Scott Whitlock talked about the process of getting the new training facility built and the impact it has on the department as a whole.
“We have had a need for a larger sport performance facility for years, but we had to wait for the opportunity and the funding to get the project underway," Whitlock said. "As an administrator it is great to be able to supply the student-athletes and coaches with something that can help them improve because that is our job to serve and help the student-athletes and to make them the best they can be. As a former coach, it is wonderful as well because teams can do their team workouts quicker and more efficiently in a wider open space. It is a win-win for everybody.”
