Biography

2017
  • Played a key role for the Owls at third base, marking one of five to start over 50 games in his senior year.
  • Ranks fifth all-time in KSU D-I program history in games played (208) and eighth in career starts (171).
  • Totaled a career-high three home runs for the season.
  • Hit .238 (45-for-189), totaling 26 runs, 13 extra base hits, drove in 25 runs and slugged .339.
  • His 10 doubles ranked tied for third on the roster and fell two shy of a career best.
  • Ranked second on the team with 33 walks on the season, and sits seventh all-time in program history with 85 total base on balls.
  • Competed in every ASUN conference game, making 20 starts and tallied 12 hits, three doubles and one home run.
  • Started his senior year going 5-for-10 with four RBI, one double and three walks throughout the Atlanta Classic (Feb. 17-19).
  • Went 4-for-13 with an RBI and two doubles versus Winthrop (Feb. 24-26).
  • Tallied a three-hit game at Stetson (April 13).
  • Went 1-for-3 with two runs scored, three RBI and a home run in the ASUN Championships versus FGCU.
  • Finished his career on a three-game hitting streak in the tournament. 

2016:
  • Made a team-high 53 starts in 55 games played, all coming at third base.
  • Batted .285 (59-207), and his 59 hits was tied for second on the team.
  • Totaled seven doubles, one triple and two home runs.
  • Drove in 34 RBI, which ranked third on the team.
  • Compiled a .325 batting average (27-83) in ASUN action.
  • Totaled a career-high three RBI versus VCU (Feb. 19).
  • Totaled four games with three hits.

2015:
  • Appeared in 53 games, making 48 starts at third base.
  • Ranked fourth on the team with a career-high .296 batting average.
  • Ranked tied for second on the team with 11 doubles, which is a career-best.
  • Compiled 21 RBI and 59 total bases for a career-high .364 slugging percentage.
  • Also played very well defensively, compiling 25 putouts and 87 assists.
  • Made only five errors the entire season, totaling a .973 fielding percentage.
  • Totaled 13 multi-hit games.
  • Finished 2-for-4 with a run on the road against Georgia (March 25).
  • Went 3-for-4 with an RBI against Western Carolina (March 31).
  • Went a career-high 4-for-4 with three RBI against Jacksonville at Stillwell Stadium (May 9).
 
2014:
  • Saw action in 47 games during his freshman season.
  • Totaled 11 hits and 11 walks.
  • Committed just three errors in the field while collecting 43 assists...

HIGH SCHOOL:
  • A four-year letter winner at East Paulding High School.
  • Was named to the All-State Team his senior season with a .468 year at the plate along with 38 RBI.
  • Also earned Paulding County Athlete of the Year during his final year.
  • Earned All-County and All-Region accolades both his junior and senior seasons.

PERSONAL:
  • Son of Dawn and Jerry Howell, has two brothers, Jake and Dylan.
