KENNESAW, Ga. — Kennesaw State men's tennis is back in action in its second tournament of the fall season Oct. 1-3, at the Mercer Gridiron Classic.
Events begin Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the John Drew Smith Tennis Center in Macon, Georgia with two rounds of doubles.
The tournament continues Oct. 2 with two rounds of singles and a round of doubles. Saturday's final day of action includes a round of both singles and doubles.
The Owls began their fall season Sept. 18-20 at the Samford Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama.
Freshmen
Frederik Tandeter,
Konstantinos Megalemos and
Juan Parrilla each earned their first wins in a KSU uniform.
Tandeter defeated Lipscomb's Matei Stan 6-1, 6-3; Megalemos overcame Samford's Vitoria Sardinha 6-3, 6-4 and Parrilla topped Jax State's Joao Barreto 7-5, 6-1.
Ben Hudson recorded singles wins over the Gamecocks' David Krasner (0-6, 6-3, 6-1) and the Bulldogs' Lukas Dvorak (7-5, 6-7, 10-2).
Returners
Xavi Ferrer and
Nathan Walters both won singles matches over the Bisons' Alex Vlahos. Ferrer's came in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, while Walters overcame a 4-6 first set to win in three, 6-4, 6-0.
Parrilla and Walters added to their singles' success with doubles wins over pairs from Lipscomb and Jax State.
Kyvan Rietkerk and Megalemos, as well as
Dominic Ducariu and Hudson, added two more doubles wins, both against Lipscomb.
