Shaun Cook and
Kyle Bachkosky were named Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars on Monday.
To be eligible for GCAA All-America Scholar recognition, a student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically and athletically in NCAA Division I. Nominees also must compete in at least 50% of their team's competitive rounds, maintain a stroke average below 76.0, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2. Recipients must be of high moral character and in good standing at their college or university.
Cook graduated in May with a degree in business finance and a 3.58 GPA.
On the course, he competed in 11 events and led Kennesaw State with a 70.88 scoring average. He posted 20 rounds of par or better in 33 rounds played.
Cook earned his second career victory at the Scrappy at Cobblestone, shooting rounds of 69-73-69 to finish at 5-under-par 211. He also placed third at the J.T. Poston Invitational with a 6-under-par 204.
During the spring season, Cook recorded top-20 finishes in four of five tournaments, including a tie for 19th at the Linger Longer Invitational at 3 under. He fired a season-best 5-under 67 in the final round and finished ahead of five players ranked in the Scoreboard Individual Standings that week. He also tied for eighth at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate at 4 under.
Cook was Kennesaw State's top finisher in five of nine team tournaments this season. He also competed as an individual at the NCAA Athens Regional, where he tied for 60th.
Bachkosky, a sport management major, carries a 3.44 GPA. He ranked second on the team with a 71.53 scoring average while competing in 10 events. He recorded 17 rounds at par or better and posted six top-25 finishes.
In the fall, Bachkosky tied for fourth at the Scrappy at Cobblestone. He closed his collegiate career with three top-20 finishes during the spring, including a tie for eighth at the Conference USA Championships.
The two selections mark the 17th consecutive year that at least one Owl has earned GCAA All-America Scholar honors.
