DALLAS – Madison Seiler was named a Conference USA Spring Spirit of Service winner, the league announced Tuesday.
The award honors student-athletes with significant community service endeavors, good academic standing and participation in their sport. The Spirit of Service Award is presented three times throughout the season, with Tuesday's honorees representing beach volleyball, outdoor track and field, softball, women's golf and women's tennis. Recipients are nominated by their institutions.
Seiler carries a 3.01 GPA in exercise science and volunteered for the Kennesaw Mountain cleanup. The Gering, Nebraska, native set the school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Penn Relays. She placed third in the event at the Conference USA Championships and finished 17th at the NCAA East First Round.
