5/15/2026 1:00:00 PM

DALLAS – Kennesaw State baseball sophomore Cooper McMullen was recognized for his excellence on the field and in the classroom Friday, earning a spot on the Conference USA All-Academic Team as announced by the league office.

McMullen was one of 11 student-athletes selected to the team by the conference's academic advisors.

A native of Bonaire, Georgia, the Georgia Tech transfer met all criteria for the honor, posting a perfect 4.0 grade-point average while pursuing a degree in management. On the field, McMullen played a key role in the Owls' pitching staff, serving as the Friday night starter in 12 of KSU's 14 regular-season weekends.

McMullen balanced a demanding role atop KSU's weekend rotation with a perfect mark in the classroom and put together an impressive stretch during the month of March, posting a 2.11 ERA (5 ER/21.1 IP) with a 2-0 record across four starts. He limited opposing hitters to a .241 batting average and tossed at least 5.0 innings while allowing three or fewer runs in each series opener during that span.

He is the latest Owl to earn CUSA All-Academic Team honors, joining Nate Anderson and Aaron Posey, who were both recognized for their work in the classroom and on the field last season.
