GREENWOOD, Ind. — Kennesaw State women's tennis's
Sofia Madrid capped her final season with the Owls by earning Academic All-District recognition from College Sports Communicators (CSC), the organization announced on Tuesday.
Along with her success in the classroom, Madrid enjoyed the best on-court showing of her career as a senior in 2026.
The Neuquen, Argentina native led KSU in both singles and doubles play with records of 10-3 and 11-6, respectively. After opening the season 0-3 in singles, Madrid then closed with a Conference USA-leading 10 consecutive match victories, seven of which came in straight sets.
Madrid and line-one partner
Ema Baraniakova earned All-CUSA Second Team Doubles at season's end after winning the league's Women's Doubles Team of the Week on April 1.
Madrid's KSU career includes a combined 107 matches played with records of 35-19 (.648) and 35-18 (.660) in singles and doubles, respectively. A three-time all-conference performer, Madrid also garnered ITA Scholar-Athlete awards in 2024 and 2025. Madrid will graduate from KSU in December with a degree in media and entertainment.
With Madrid's steadying presence leading the way, KSU notched two pivotal program milestones during its 2026 campaign.
The Owls secured their first-ever win over a power-conference opponent on March 10, defeating Virginia Tech 4-3 at Betty Siegel Courts. KSU then defeated its highest-ranked opponent to-date in a 4-0 win over No. 58 South Alabama at home on March 20. The Owls also racked up their second-longest win streak in program history, winning eight straight matches from Feb. 18 to March 20.
