Battle at the Beach Up Next for the Owls

KENNESAW, Ga. — Kennesaw State men's tennis looks to extend its three-match winning streak as it faces Lehigh, William & Mary and UNCW with three matches in four days at the Battle at the Beach, March 10-11 and 13.

The Owls' three straight wins have come at Georgia Southern (4-2), at UNC Asheville (4-0) and at VCU (4-1).

The strong singles play of Dominic Ducariu, Leon Peranovic and Nathan Walters has kept KSU rolling. Ducariu, Peranovic and Walters are a combined 21-7 in singles this season with Ducariu on a four-match win streak. 

A true freshman from Frankfurt, Germany, Ducariu went 2-0 on the road trip to UNC Asheville and VCU. Ducariu clinched both matches with a 6-1, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2 win against the Bulldogs and a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over the Rams, both on line four.

Ducariu and junior Ben Hudson give the Owls their best doubles pairing with a 5-2 record, including wins of 6-1 and 6-2 at UNC Asheville and VCU, respectively.

SERIES HISTORY
KSU will face Lehigh and William & Mary for the first time this week. The Owls have faced UNCW twice before and trail the Seahawks 0-2 in the series. In last season's Battle at the Beach, KSU dropped matches to UNCW (1-6) and NJIT (1-4).

KNOW THE FOE
Lehigh (6-4) split its matches on March 7-8 with a 1-4 loss at Penn State and a 4-0 win over Mount Saint Mary's. The Mountain Hawks finished third in the Patriot League in 2025 with a 13-10 (6-2) record.

William & Mary (5-5) went 2-1 last week, defeating Georgetown (5-2) and Norfolk State (6-1) and falling at No. 59 Liberty (0-7). The Tribe is coming off a 2025 season in which they finished 6-13 and 2-5 in the Coastal Athletic Association.

UNCW (2-7) has faced four consecutive ITA-ranked teams, in addition to opening the season with a 0-4 loss at No. 4 Texas. The Seahawks' last three weeks include losses at No. 8 UCF (1-6), No. 56 Oregon (1-6), No. 30 UCSB (0-7) and versus No. 72 Texas Tech (3-4).

UNCW gives KSU a fourth 2025 NCAA Tournament team on this season's schedule. After winning the CAA at 12-8 (3-0), the Seahawks reached the tournament, where they ultimately fell to No. 26 Georgia in the first round.
