KENNESAW, Ga. — Kennesaw State women's tennis looks to extend its four-match winning streak in upcoming contests with Georgia State, Virginia Tech and Mercer.
The Owls are returning from two weeks on the road for just their second and third home matches of the season.
After starting the season 0-3, KSU has caught fire with consecutive 2-0 road trips. The Owls defeated Troy (4-2) and UAB (4-3) on Feb. 18 and 20, then rolled by Alcorn State (7-0) and Southern Miss (4-0) a week ago.
This is KSU's first four-match winning streak since March 31-April 8, 2023.
Maria Ivankovic,
Ema Baraniakova and
Sofia Madrid have sparked the Owls in singles and doubles.
Ivankovic is on a four-match winning streak in singles play. The freshman from Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, won both of her singles matches in straight sets at Alcorn State and Southern Miss.
Baraniakova and Madrid are riding a four-match winning streak of their own in doubles. The junior from Leopoldov, Slovakia, and the senior from Neuquen, Argentina, took a match from the Braves 6-1 and another from the Golden Eagles 6-3.
SERIES HISTORY
KSU and Georgia State will meet for the 10
th time on Friday. While the Panthers lead the series 5-4, the Owls have won four straight, including 5-2 in Atlanta in 2025.
KSU and Virginia Tech meet for the first time on Tuesday in the Owls' first home match versus a power conference opponent since hosting Penn State on March 7, 2020. A win against the Hokies would give KSU its first all-time victory over a power conference opponent.
The Owls are looking for their fifth-straight win over Mercer on March 11. KSU controls the series 9-6 and won last season's meeting 6-1 in Kennesaw.
KNOW THE FOE
Georgia State (3-6) is coming off a 0-4 loss to Florida State and a 6-1 win at Florida A&M. The Panthers went 6-12 (5-5) and finished eighth in the Sun Belt in 2025.
Virginia Tech (3-5) is on a four-match losing streak after falling to JMU, No. 16 Virginia, No. 23 SMU and ETSU. The Hokies face Furman on March 8 before arriving in Kennesaw. In 2025, Virginia Tech finished 13-12 and 15
th in the ACC.
Mercer (7-5) has lost three of its last four and split matches a week ago, 4-2 at Troy, and 1-4 versus Georgia Southern. The Bears finished fifth in the SoCon a season ago with a 7-14 (3-4) record.
