ANNAPOLIS, Md. — No. 75 Kennesaw State men's tennis concluded its weekend road trip with a quick 4-0 win over Navy on Saturday morning at Tose Family Tennis Center.
With Saturday's shutout of the Midshipmen, KSU extended its recent momentum to five consecutive matches won; its second such streak this season. At 14-4 with just three matches remaining in the regular season, the Owls have tied their 2023 and 2024 win totals for the second-most in director of tennis
Matt Emery's tenure. Only the 2022 squad recorded more, with 15.
KSU made quick work of the doubles point with a 21-minute duration across the three matches.
Dominic Ducariu and
Anthony Weingarten took court two in just 19 minutes with a 6-1 defeat of Navy's Tommy Kim and Ethan Garcia.
Kyvan Rietkerk and
Leon Peranovic overcame Lachlan Buckingham and Jake Young 6-2 on court one.
Xavi Ferrer and
Ben Hudson completed the Owl sweep of doubles with a 6-3 court-three win over Midshipmen Steve Nguyen and Zachary Quattro.
Erik Vladimirov,
Nathan Walters and Ferrer secured the match for KSU with three straight-set wins in singles.
Vladimirov advanced to 4-0 on the season with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Quattro on six. Walters extended his singles win streak to eight matches as he defeated Buckingham 6-2, 6-2 on court four. Ferrer's seventh consecutive singles win came in a 6-3, 6-4 decision over Garcia on five.
Walters and Ferrer are a combined 25-6 in singles play this season, responsible for 44% of KSU wins. As a team, the Owls are now 57-31 (.648) in singles.
