Cale McDaniel and
Chance Cross collected Conference USA Indoor Championship superlative awards the league announced Tuesday.
McDaniel was named Women's Coach of the Year after leading KSU to its first women's title in CUSA. It also was the first CUSA championship won by a woman's program since KSU joined CUSA on July 1, 2024. The Owls scored 140.5 points in the two-day meet and collected medals in 12 events. KSU won five events on the women's side and set two meet and facility records in the 800m and 4x400m relay.
Cross was named most outstanding track performer. He won the 60m with a time of 6.56 seconds. That time established a new conference championship and facility record. He broke his previous CUSA Indoor Championship and facility record by .05 seconds. The senior became the first person to run under 6.60 seconds in the 60m final. He became just the fifth person in CUSA Championship history to win this event in consecutive years.
