COLLEGE STATION, Texas – After falling 5-0 to Saint Mary's, Kennesaw State softball came within one run but lost, 5-4, to the Gaels on Sunday afternoon.

Alora Bevily, Ana Gore and Macie Howes each had multi-hit games. Gore also swiped two bags, including a steal at home.

Jenna Chase tossed a personal high 6.2 innings.

How It Happened
Saint Mary's scored all five of their runs in the first inning. After two runners reached bases, Braxton Brown brought them home with a three-run shot. Another two-run homer put the Gaels up five.

KSU got one back in the bottom of the third. Bevily hit a lead off single and stole second base. Howes scored her with a knock up the middle.

Three more crossed home in the following inning. Gore singled then moved to third after a steal and wild pitch. Gore got aggressive on the base paths and was rewarded by stealing home. She became the first Owl to steal home since 2018.

Rylee Limberger and Kimberly Tobar continued the momentum by getting on base. Bevily slapped a single and advanced to third after a Gaels error.

In the circle, Chase was able to contain the Gaels. She got out of back-to-back bases-loaded jams in the fourth and fifth inning without surrendering a run.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Black and Gold had a chance to tie the game or take the lead with runners in scoring position but couldn't capitalize.

Notes from the Diamond
  • Ana Gore became the first Owl to steal home since Hannah Thomason did it against UAB on March 7, 2018.
  • Alora Bevily recorded her sixth multi-hit game of the season. She's 5-for-11 with two runs scored in the last three games.
  • Macie Howes has an RBI in each of the last three contests. She finishes this week going 7-for-17 with four RBI and three extra-base hits.
  • Jenna Chase pitched 6.2 innings for the first time in her career. That mark doubled her 2026 season total (3.1 innings pitched) entering today's contest.
