HUMACAO, Puerto Rico — Shaun Cook grabbed a share of the individual lead after the opening round of the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate at Palmas Del Mar CC Flamboyan Sunday.
The senior rolled in seven birdies and eight pars on the way to a 4-under-par 68. He leads the field in birdies (7) and par-4 scoring at 3.80.
Kennesaw State carded a 4-over-par round of 292 and is tied for seventh.
Hunter Gillard overcame three bogeys by making making four birdies and 11 pars to shoot a 1-under-par 71. He is tied for 11th.
Playing as an individual, Reed Sweigart birdied his final three holes of the day to post a 1-over-par 73. Sweigart is tied for 23rd.
Freshman Ryan Nicholson carded a 4-over-par 76 and is tied for 52nd. Kyle Bachkosky (77) and Walker Gantt (79) are tied for 62nd and 73rd, respectively.
The Owls will play the second round of the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9.
