KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State Department of Athletics celebrated National Girls and Women in Sports Day with a halftime ceremony during the Feb. 5 women's basketball game at VyStar Arena.
Women from all units of KSU's athletics staff gathered at halftime to be honored and helped celebrate Shelley Elder, who has been a dedicated benefactor and champion of KSU athletics for many years.
"Celebrating the women of Kennesaw State on National Girls and Women in Sports Day was a joy, and coupling that with the honoring of Shelley Elder, a woman who supports our women's athletic programs, was a fantastic way to top off the day," said Jessica Reo, KSU's Chief Administration Office and Senior Woman Administrator.
Elder was presented with a plaque from Conference USA honoring her dedication and impact.
Elder established the Shelley Elder basketball scholarship in 2016 and sponsored a Legacy Locker for the women's basketball team in 2020. In 2023, Elder and the Crane Elder Law Firm made a generous $100,000 gift to support the future growth of KSU Athletics.
Elder's contributions go far beyond financial support as she embodies the spirit of opportunity, excellence, and community.
