COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Kennesaw State softball finished day one of the Texas A&M Invitational, playing Saint Mary's and the no. 15 ranked Aggies.

Game 1: Saint Mary's 3, KSU 1
Both teams scored in the first inning. The Gaels loaded up the bases with one out. The Black and Gold induced a grounder, but Sam Buckley was able to cross home.

KSU responded in the bottom half of the frame. Ava Guzowski ripped a double to score Ana Gore from first base.

Buckley scored her second run in the third after a Gael beat out an infield hit. The Owls loaded up the bases in the bottom half of the inning but couldn't bring home the tying run.

Saint Mary's added an insurance run the following inning.

Game 2: #15 Texas A&M 8, KSU 0 (5)
Kate Munnerlyn threw a perfect game for the Aggies.

Four of the first five batters reached safely for Texas A&M, resulting in three first-inning runs.

The Aggies tacked on five more runs in the third to give themselves an 8-0 lead. Preseason All-American Mya Perez went yard for her sixth homer of the season.

Notes from the Diamond
  • Freshman Kimberly Tobar made her first start against the Gaels.
  • Leah Jannakos picked up her first loss of the season after winning her first four decisions. She was the first pitcher since 2020 to start the season 4-0.
  • Macie Howes ended her streak with three-straight games with a homer. The last time an Owl went yard in three consecutive games was 2021.

On Deck
The Black and Gold will play another doubleheader tomorrow at the Texas A&M Invitational. Their first game is against Louisiana at 12:30 p.m. before they have a rematch with the Aggies at 5:30. That game will be streamed on the SEC Network+.
